If you have a comment or question please let us know. We would love to hear from you.

What does mold need to grow?

Mold growth occurs indoors when two main factors are present, moisture and food. Moisture is the most important factor. Controlling moisture helps control mold growth.

Moisture - Mold does not require a lot of water to grow. Mold commonly appears on bathroom tile and grout, basement walls, and areas around windows and sinks. Common sources of water or moisture include roof leaks, condensation due to high humidity or cold spots in a building, slow leaks in plumbing fixtures and floods.

Food - Mold can grow on almost any organic substance. Most buildings are full of organic materials that mold can use as food including paper and wood.

Whether you need commercial or residential mold remediation for a home, business, hospital, school or any other type of building, Disaster One’s certified staff of Mold Remediators, Supervisors, Specialists, and Consultants can assist you in the mold remediation process. Locations in Greensboro, Raleigh, Charlotte NC, and Atlanta GA.

Common Types of Water Losses

Disasters can happen anytime! This has caused street flooding and down trees. Our staff has been working around the clock in all of our locations (Greensboro, Charlotte, Raleigh and Atlanta) to help those affect by Hurricane Ida. When dealing with water intrusions it's important to remember the value of immediate response. Water can quickly spread to other areas of the house causing structural damage and mold. Quick response can reduce the amount demolition required and repairs needed to the structure.

Our dedicated staff is available 24/7. If you know anyone that may need our services please have them call. We can recommend what we believe is the best restoration procedure to contain the damage and prevent the loss from escalating.

CE Class-Greensboro Location

Disaster One is proud to offer two NCDOI approved CE courses on October 20, 2009. By Wed. I think we will have a good idea of where Bill is going. If the high pressure does not split I personally think this storm could impact New York and New England. This could be bad news because of the unusual amount of rain this summer making trees very susceptible to being uprooted and causing heavy structural damage further inland than usual. If the high pressure splits the storm should follow the current five day projection and turn away from land. Stay tuned to forecasters and as always be prepared now and you will be ahead of the stress that could come your way this weekend.

Possible East Coast Storm

TD 2 is struggling to hold on to depression strength and could fall back to tropical wave as it continues to encounter the dry air created by saharan dust storm still lingering over the area needed for development. The depression behind it looks more impressive and some forecasters say it will become a hurricane and pose a threat to the east coast in 10 to 12 days. I beleive this storm will be our first unless the one in carribean beats it to the list.Things should get interesting over the next 4 weeks. Here at D1 we continue to monitor the storms and will make our decisions on deployment as soon as the data warrants the call. If you live along the east coast you are use to the drill just don't become complacent remember property can be rebuilt lives are irreplaceable.Early preparation will take a lot of the stress out of storm issues and don't forget those pets as not everyone prepares for their evacuation until it becomes a decision no one wants to make.

View Your Job Online

Looking for a better way to stay up-to-date with what's going on with your job? We are prepared to take our expertise in Restoration to the storm damage when it arrives. A minimal storm can cause major problems depending on forward speed and rainfall amounts. It generally takes wind speed of at least 105 mph to cause roof damage of any significance. I rode out tropical storm Ophelia a few years back and was amazed at the 65 mph wind that lasted around 7 hrs. Blockade Runner at Wrightsville allowed me to stay. I have been storm chasing since 1995 when hurricane Opal hit Pensacola Beach and brought damage all the way over to Panama City Fla. So just because it is quiet now and forecasters are lowering expectations be aware it only takes one Cat 4 or 5 to make this a memorable season. With all the companies involved in storm chasing if you have the need to use their services check their track record and know who you are dealing with. Here at D-1 we pride ourselves on getting the job done right the first time we are the Calm After The Storm.

One to Blog

Since Disaster One started in 1977 we have seen many changes in the restoration industry and society as a whole.
